San Josemaría

San Josemaría tenía setenta y tres años cuando Dios lo llamó a su presencia el veintiséis de junio de 1975. 

Cinco años antes, estando en México delante de una imagen que representaba a la Virgen de Guadalupe dando una rosa a san Juan Diego, dijo a la persona que lo acompañaba: «Así querría morir: mirando a la Santísima Virgen, y que Ella me dé una flor». La devoción a la Virgen María había crecido en él desde su infancia y lo había llevado a formular una especie de lema «todos con Pedro, a Jesús, por María». 

Comentando la petición del leproso del evangelio de hoy «Señor, si quieres, puedes curarme», él mismo se dirigió a Jesús así: «Señor, Tú, que has curado a tantas almas, haz que, al tenerte en mi pecho o al contemplarte en el Sagrario, te reconozca como Médico divino».

Acudimos a la Virgen María con otra oración que dejó escrita en Forja: «No me dejes, ¡Madre!: haz que busque a tu Hijo; haz que encuentre a tu Hijo; haz que ame a tu Hijo... ¡con todo mi ser! —Acuérdate, Señora, acuérdate».

Saint Josemaría

Saint Josemaría was seventy-three years old when God called him to his presence on June 26, 1975.

Five years earlier, when he was in Mexico in front of an image that represented the Virgin of Guadalupe giving a rose to Saint Juan Diego, he said to the person who was with him: “That’s how I’d like to die: looking at the Blessed Virgin, and with her giving me a flower.” The devotion to the Virgin Mary had grown in him since childhood and had led him to formulate a kind of motto "omnes cum Petro ad Iesum per Mariam — that we may all go to Jesus, closely united to the Pope, through Mary."

Commenting on the prayer of the leper of today's Gospel, "Lord, if you want, you can heal me", he himself addressed Jesus like this : "Lord, you have cured so many souls; help me to recognize you as the divine physician, when I have you in my heart or when I contemplate your presence in the tabernacle."

We pray to the Virgin Mary with another prayer that he wrote in his book ‘Forge’: "Mother, do not leave me! Let me seek your Son, let me find your Son, let me love your Son — with my whole being! — Remember me, my Lady, remember me."
