Miércoles de la décima cuarta semana del Tiempo Ordinario

Enseña el Catecismo de la Iglesia que el ministerio eclesial tiene un carácter colegial. 

Jesús instituyó a los Doce como semilla del Nuevo Israel y origen de la jerarquía sagrada. No solo los eligió juntos sino que también los envió juntos, para que su unidad estuviera al servicio de la comunión fraterna de todos los fieles y fuera como un reflejo de la comunión de las Personas divinas. 

Por eso los obispos ejercen su ministerio en el seno del colegio episcopal, en comunión con el obispo de Roma, y los presbíteros ejercen el suyo en el seno del presbiterio de la diócesis, bajo la dirección de su obispo.

Por intercesión de la Virgen del Carmen pedimos hoy que Dios ilumine a los obispos, sucesores de los Apóstoles, y los guarde en la unidad.

Wednesday of the fourteenth week in Ordinary Time

The Catechism of the Church teaches that ecclesial ministry has a collegial character.

Jesus instituted the Twelve as the seed of the New Israel and origin of the sacred hierarchy. He not only chose them together but also sent them together, so that their unity was at the service of the fraternal communion of all the faithful and was as a reflection of the communion of the divine Persons.

That is why the bishops exercise their ministry within the episcopal college, in communion with the Bishop of Rome, and the priests exercise theirs within the presbytery of the diocese, under the direction of their bishop.

Through the intercession of Our Lady of Mount Carmel we ask today that God enlighten the bishops, successors of the Apostles, and keep them in unity.

Martes de la décima cuarta semana del Tiempo Ordinario

El exorcismo es la oración con la que la Iglesia pide públicamente y con autoridad, en nombre de Jesucristo, que una persona o un objeto sea protegido contra la influencia del maligno y substraído a su dominio. 

Dice el Catecismo de la Iglesia, citando a san Juan, que el mundo yace bajo el poder del maligno desde el pecado de nuestros primeros padres y que esto hace que la historia humana esté envuelta hasta el último día en una lucha contra el poder de las tinieblas. 

Ya sabéis que no podemos tener agua bendita en las pilas de la iglesia mientras dure la amenaza de esta pandemia. Pero podemos tenerla en casa. Santa Teresa de Jesús siempre la llevaba consigo.

Al terminar la misa bendeciré el agua para que, quien quiera, se lleve a casa una botella. Después de la bendición esa agua será un sacramental que nos ayudará en nuestra lucha contra el poder de las tinieblas.

Tuesday of the fourteenth week in Ordinary Time

Exorcism is the prayer with which the Church publicly and authoritatively requests, in the name of Jesus Christ, that a person or object be protected against the influence of the devil and released from his domain.

The Catechism of the Church says, quoting Saint John, that the world lies under the power of the devil since the sin of our first parents and that this causes human history to be involved until the last day in a fight against the power of the darkness.

All of us already know that we can't hav holy water in the church basins while the threat of this pandemic lasts. But we can have holy water at home. Saint Teresa of Jesus always carried it with her.

At the end of the mass I will bless the water so that whoever wants it can take a  bottle home. After the blessing, that water will be a sacramental that will help us in our fight against the power of darkness.

Holy Mary, Queen of Angels, pray for us.
