San Sixto II, papa y compañeros mártires
A mediados del siglo III el emperador Valeriano ordenó ejecutar a todos los obispos, sacerdotes y diáconos. El papa Sixto II y tres de sus diáconos fueron detenidos mientras celebraban la Misa y decapitados el seis de agosto. Los otros tres diáconos de Roma sufrieron el martirio poco después.
Pedimos por intercesión de Santa María esa fortaleza sobrenatural que necesitamos para vencer el mal con abundancia de bien permaneciendo siempre fieles a Cristo.

Saint Sixtus II, pope and fellow martyrs
In the middle of the 3rd century the Emperor Valerian ordered the execution of all the bishops, priests and deacons. Pope Sixtus II and four of his deacons were detained while celebrating Mass and beheaded on August 6th. The other three Roman deacons suffered martyrdom soon after.
We ask through the intercession of Our Lady for that supernatural fortitude that we need to overcome evil with an abundance of good while remaining faithful to Christ.
