La Asunción de la Virgen

El 1 de noviembre de 1950, «para honor del Hijo, para glorificación de la Madre y para alegría de toda la Iglesia» Pío XII proclamó como dogma que la Virgen María «terminado el curso de su vida terrestre, fue asunta en cuerpo y alma a la gloria celestial».

La imagen de la Virgen glorificada en cuerpo y alma en el seno de la Santísima Trinidad nos habla de la victoria de Dios sobre el poder del diablo, el «dragón rojo» del Apocalipsis. 

Ese poder basado en la violencia y en la mentira, que ha hecho y sigue haciendo tantos mártires, no prevaleció contra la Virgen María, Regina Martirum, y no prevalecerá contra la Iglesia. 

Con alegría levantamos hoy los ojos hacia el Cielo para felicitar a nuestra Madre como han hecho hasta ahora todas las generaciones de los cristianos.

On 1 November 1950, for “the honour of her Son, for the increase of the glory of that same august Mother, and for the joy and exultation of the entire Church” Pope Pius XII proclaimed as Dogma that the Virgin Mary “having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory”. 

The image of the Virgin glorified in body and soul in the bosom of the Holy Trinity speaks of the victory of God over the power of the devil, the "red dragon" of the Book of Revelation.

That power, based on violence and lies, which has produced so many martyrs and continues to do so, did not prevail against the Virgin Mary, Regina Martirum, and it will not prevail against the Church.

With joy we lift our eyes to Heaven today to congratulate our Mother as all generations of Christians have done up to now.
