Sábado de la décima quinta semana del Tiempo Ordinario

La «caña cascada» y el «pábilo vacilante» son figuras que usa Isaías para describir la fragilidad del hombre roto por el pecado. Nosotros somos cañas cascadas y pábilos vacilantes y, con todo, Dios aún reconoce en nosotros la obrade sus manos. Aunque empañada por el pecado, aún somos imagen y semejanza de Dios. 

El Siervo de Dios anuncia a Cristo que no ha venido a destruir sino a implantar el derecho. Dios mismo hace oír su voz sobre Él: «este es mi Hijo amado, en quien me complazco». Él es delicado con nuestra fragilidad porque es manso y humilde. Jesús cura las almas y los cuerpos y se presenta como el buen samaritano que no pasa de largo ante el desgraciado que ha sido apaleado y abandonado en el camino sino que venda sus heridas y lo lleva a la posada, la Iglesia.

Al Papa Francisco le gusta hablar de la Iglesia como hospital de campaña al que llegamos malheridos y en el que somos curados. Por eso el diablo se empeña en desacreditarla y en atribuirle a ella los pecados de los hombres. 

De la Santa Madre Iglesia no puede venirnos mal alguno, al contrario, en ella nuestra fragilidad recibe todos los cuidados.

Confiamos en la intercesión de Santa María, refugio de los pecadores. También Ella es un don maravilloso que Dios, compasivo con nuestra debilidad, nos hace.

Saturday of the fifteenth week in Ordinary Time

The “broken reed” and the “wavering wick” are figures that Isaiah uses to describe the fragility of the man broken by sin. We are cracked reeds and wavering wicks, yet God still recognizes in us the work of His hands. We still bear the image and likeness of God though that image is darkened by sin. 

The “Servant of Yahveh” is a foreshadowing of Christ Who has not come to destroy but to establish justice. God Himself makes His voice heard over Him, “This is my beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased.” He can be delicate with our fragility because He is meek and humble. Jesus heals souls and bodies and presents Himself as the Good Samaritan who does not pass by the unfortunate man who has been beaten and abandoned on the road, but bandages his wounds and takes him to the inn, the Church.

Pope Francis likes to talk about the Church as a field hospital where we arrive badly injured and where we are healed. That is why the devil insists on discrediting Her and attributing to Her the sins of men.

No harm can come to us from the Holy Mother Church, on the contrary, in Her our fragility receives all the care.

We trust in the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, refuge of sinners. She is a wonderful gift that God, compassionate with our weakness, makes us.
