Sábado de la sexta semana de Pascua

«Pedid, y recibiréis, para que vuestra alegría sea completa».

Jesús no quiere para sus discípulos la alegría mundana del amor propio satisfecho. Promete una alegria sobrenatural que es fruto del Espíritu Santo y que se renueva en la oración.

Lo que enseña a sus discípulos lo practica Él mismo. En la Cruz, en el momento de mayor humillación Jesús ora con el Salmo 22: «Dios mío, Dios mío, ¿por qué me has abandonado? A pesar de mis gritos, mi oración no te alcanza. Dios mío, de día te grito, y no me respondes; de noche, y no me haces caso». Es la oración de quien está desolado pero no desesperado y por eso continúa con una petición «¡Salvame!» y acaba con una acción de gracias: porque «Tú me has respondido, contaré tu fama a mis hermanos, en medio de la asamblea te alabaré».

Estamos en mayo y hoy es sábado, día especialmente dedicado a ti, Madre. Queremos orar contigo diciendo: «Proclama mi alma la grandeza del Señor, se alegra mi espíritu en Dios, mi salvador, porque ha mirado la humildad de su esclava».

Saturday of the sixth week of Easter

"Ask, and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete."

Jesus does not want the worldly joy of satisfied self-love for His Disciples.. He promises a supernatural joy that is the fruit of the Holy Spirit and that is renewed in prayer.

What He teaches His disciples He practices Himself. On the Cross, in the moment of greatest humiliation, Jesus prays with Psalm 22, "My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Why are You so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning? O my God, I cry by day, but You do not answer, and by night, but I find no rest. " It is the prayer of one who is desolate but not desperate and that is why he continues with a request, "Save me from the mouth of the lion!" and ends with a thanksgiving, because "You have rescued me from the horns of the wild oxen! I will tell of Your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will praise You."

We are in May and today is Saturday, a day specially dedicated to You, Mother Mary. We want to pray with You saying, "My soul doth magnify the Lord. And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For He hath regarded the lowliness of his Handmaiden."
