Sábado de la III semana de Pascua

Segundo día de mayo. Podemos decir que aún estamos estrenando este mes «en el que el pueblo de Dios manifiesta con particular intensidad su amor y devoción a la Virgen María». (Carta del Papa Francisco para el mes de mayo de 2020)

Alguno ya ha pasado por la iglesia de San Miguel para poner su oración ante la imagen de la Virgen. Lo sé porque ayer encontré unas flores en el camarín de la Virgen de los Dolores; como no las puse yo y no creo que haya venido un ángel del cielo a ponerlas, ha debido ponerlas un ángel del pueblo. 

Otros estáis adornando vuestras casas para que se note que es mayo. Una feligresa de Torremendo me decía ayer: «mis hijos no quieren que salga de casa pero usted sabe que tengo a la Virgen del Carmen en mi salita y le he hecho un altar». Me dio una idea y yo mismo he hecho un altarcito a la Virgen en la casa parroquial. ¡Que se note que es mayo!

Sobre todo que se note en casa, en la calle y en todas partes, por el  buen espíritu cristiano que no se enreda con cosas que no sirven para nada —peleas, cabezonería, tristezas, caprichos— porque viene de Jesús, nos trae su alegría y nos lleva a Él. 

Él nos ha dicho: «El Espíritu es quien da vida; la carne no sirve para nada. Las palabras que os he dicho son espíritu y vida».

Lo que con más insistencia debemos pedir, por intercesión de nuestra Madre, es que venga sobre nosotros el Espíritu de Cristo. El Espíritu que inspiró a San Pedro cuando muchos discípulos abandonaron a Jesús y San Pedro le dijo: «Señor ¿a quién vamos a ir? Solo tu tienes palabras de vida eterna». El Espíritu que inspiró a Santa María cuando rompió a cantar el Magnificat: «Procalama mi alma la grandeza del Señor, se alegra mi espíritu en Dios, mi Salvador». 

Terminamos con las palabras de una de la oraciones que el Papa nos ha enviado en su carta para el mes de mayo. 

«Nos encomendamos a Ti, que brillas en nuestro camino como signo de salvación y de esperanza. ¡Oh clementísima, oh piadosa, oh dulce Virgen María! Amén».

The second day of May. We can say that we are still launching this month "in which the people of God express with particular intensity their love and devotion to the Virgin Mary." (Letter from Pope Francis for the month of May 2020)

Someone has already passed by the church of San Miguel to put her prayer before the image of the Virgin. I know this because yesterday I found some flowers on the altar of Our Lady of Sorrows; As I did not leave them and I do not believe that an angel from heaven left them, an angel of the town must have put them there.

Some of us are decorating our houses to show that it is May. A parishioner from Torremendo told me yesterday, "My children do not want me to leave the house but you know that I have an image of Our Lady of Mount Carmel  in my living room and I have made an altar for Her." She gave me an idea and I have made an altar to the Virgin in the parish house too. Let it be seen that it is May!

Above all let it be seen, at home, in the street and everywhere, for the good Christian spirit that does not get entangled with things that are useless - fights, stubbornness, sadness, whims - because it comes from Jesus and brings us the Joy of Jesus. 

He has told us, "The Spirit is the one who gives life; flesh is useless. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life."

What we must most insistently ask through the intercession of our Mother is that the Spirit of Christ come upon us. The Spirit that inspired Saint Peter when many disciples abandoned Jesus and Saint Peter said to Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? Only you have the words of eternal life." The Spirit that inspired the Blessed Virgin Mary when She broke into singing the Magnificat, "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God, my Saviour."

We finish with the words of one of the prayers that the Pope has sent us in his letter for the month of May.

“We entrust ourselves to You, who shine on our path as a sign of salvation and hope. Oh merciful, oh pious, oh sweet Virgin Mary! Amen".
