Sábado de la quinta semana de Pascua

«Si fuerais del mundo, el mundo os amaría como cosa suya, pero como no sois del mundo, sino que yo os he escogido sacándoos del mundo, por eso el mundo os odia».

Esto es una maravilla. Los cristianos somos de Cristo, no somos del mundo. Estamos llamados a ser sal que dé sabor de eternidad a las cosas del mundo y que lo preserve de la corrupción, luz que brille en las tinieblas del mundo, levadura que haga fermentar la masa. 

En la medida en que el mundo quiera escuchar y recibir a Cristo nos  escuchará y nos recibirá a nosotros. En la medida en que el mundo rechace  y odie a Cristo nos rechazará y nos odiará a nosotros. 

Esto es una maravilla. Los apóstoles anuncian el evangelio en el mundo con la fuerza del Espíritu Santo que los lleva y los trae y les dice cuándo y dónde deben hablar y cuándo y dónde deben callar. Allí donde los reciben no se ponen orgullosos; se alegran, claro, pero saben que no es a ellos a quienes se someten los que escuchan la Palabra sino a Dios. Allí donde los rechazan y los odian no se sienten víctimas incomprendidas; sufren, claro, pero saben que no los están rechazando a ellos sino a Dios y, también entonces, se alegran de compartir los sufrimientos de Cristo. 

A esta vida maravillosa y a esta maravillosa alegría estamos llamados los cristianos. Si vivimos, vivimos para Dios y nos alegramos. Si morimos, morimos para Dios y también nos alegramos. Si el mundo nos escucha nos alegramos por el triunfo de Cristo y si nos odia por ser cristianos nos alegramos recordando las palabras de Jesús: «Bienaventurados vosotros cuando os insulten, os persigan y, con mentiras, digan todo género de mal contra vosotros por mi Nombre. Estad alegres y contentos porque vuestra recompensa será grande en el Cielo». 

¡Que se note que es mayo! Santa María queremos ser tuyos para ser de Cristo en este mundo y en el mundo futuro.

Saturday of the fifth week of Easter

"If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you."

This is wonderful. We, Christians, are Christ's, we are not of the world. We are called to be salt that gives a taste of eternity to the things of the world and that preserves it from corruption; light that shines in the darkness of the world, yeast that makes the dough ferment.

To the extent that the world wants to hear and receive Christ, it will listen to us and receive us. To the extent that the world rejects and hates Christ, it will reject us and hate us.

This is wonderful. The apostles announce the Gospel to the world with the force of the Holy Spirit Who carries them and brings them and tells them when and where they should speak and when and where they should be silent. Where they are recived they do not become proud; they rejoice, of course, but they know that those who hear the Word do not submit to them, but to God. Where they are rejected and hated, they don't feel like misunderstood victims; they suffer, of course, but they know that it is God who has been rejected and, even then, they are happy to share the sufferings of Christ.

Christians are called to this wonderful life and to this wonderful joy. If we live, we live for God and we rejoice. If we die, we die for God and we also rejoice. If the world listens to us we rejoice for the triumph of Christ, and if it hates us for being Christians, we rejoice remembering the words of Jesus, "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven."

Let it be noted that it is May! Holy Mary we want to be yours to belong  to Jesus in this world and in the future world.
