Novena a la Virgen de Fátima, oiga (5)

Viernes de la IV semana de Pascua.

El 13 de julio de 1917 la Virgen se apareció por tercera vez a Lucía, Francisco y Jacinta. La noticia de las apariciones se había divulgado y aquel día se congregaron en Cova de Iría unas cuatro mil personas. 

En un momento de su aparición la Virgen mostró a los niños un mar de fuego en el que se consumían hombres y demonios. Los niños se asustaron tanto que lazaron un grito y los que estaban allí pudieron oirlo. Pero la visión duró solamente un instante. Entonces la Virgen les dijo: «Se os ha permitido ver el infierno. La devoción a mi Corazón Inmaculado y la oración pueden traer la paz al mundo y conseguir la conversión de muchos pecadores evitando su condenación eterna». 

Los que no conocen a Cristo pueden extrañarse de que la Virgen hable del infierno a unos niños. ¿Se puede hablar del infierno a los niños? Los que conocemos a Cristo no nos extrañamos porque sabemos que Él mismo dio gracias a Dios que oculta los misterios del Reino a los sabios y se los revela a los niños. 

Los niños, generalmente, no tienen interés ni capacidad de participar en los debates de política o de economía pero tienen interés y sed por conocer lo que se refiere a la vida y a la muerte, al Cielo, al infierno, a Dios y a la esperanza. Porque saben lo que es estar alegre y lo que e estar triste nunca olvidarán a los que les han ayudado a descubrir las fuentes de la verdadera alegría y a alejarse del abismo de tristeza en el que se hunden tantas vidas. Y si los padres y catequistas no les hablan de todo esto, ¿de qué les hablarán? Y, sobre todo ¿quién será para ellos un maestro?

Durante esta novena nos hacemos niños para visitar la casa de la Sagrada Familia en Nazaret. Vamos con todos los chiquillos del pueblo a preguntar por Jesús y nos recibe la Virgen con una sonrisa, y nos invita a pasar al pequeño huerto que hay delante de la casa. Nos acomoda allí a todos mientras llama a Jesús y a José que están en el taller. Y pasamos allí resto de la tarde en el ambiente de buen humor y de alegría con el que Jesús José y María acogen a los que llegan para que estén, de verdad, como en casa. 

Jesús es solo un Niño pero sabe que su casa de la tierra es una imagen del Cielo. Y cuando, antes de morir, se despida de sus discípulos los consolará diciendo: «No estéis tristes, voy a la casa de mi Padre en la que hay moradas para todos y un huerto precioso. Cuando os prepare el sitio volveré para llevaros conmigo y para que donde yo esté estéis también vosotros». 

Inmaculado Corazón de María, en ti confiamos.

Friday of the fourth week of Easter.

On July 13, 1917 the Virgin appeared for the third time to Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta. The news of the apparitions had spread and that day about four thousand people gathered in Cova de Iría.

At the time of Her appearance the Virgin showed the children a sea of ​​fire in which men and demons were consumed. The children were so frightened that they screamed and those who were there could hear it. But the vision lasted only an instant. Then the Virgin said to them, "You have been allowed to see hell. Devotion to my Immaculate Heart and prayer can bring peace to the world and achieve the conversion of many sinners avoiding their eternal damnation."

Those who do not know Christ may be surprised that the Virgin tells children about hell. Should we talk about hell to children? But, if we know the Gospel, we should not be surprised because we know that Jesus Himself thanked God Who hides the mysteries of the Kingdom from the wise and reveals them to children.

Children generally have no interest or capacity to participate in political or economic debates, but they have an interest and thirst to know about life and death, Heaven, hell, God and hope. Because they know what it is to be happy and to be sad, they will never forget those who have helped them discover the sources of true joy and get away from the abyss of sadness in which so many lives sink. If their parents and catechists do not teach them about all of this, what are they going to teach them? Who is going to be a master for them?

During this novena we become children to visit the house of the Holy Family in Nazareth. We go with all the children of the village to ask about Jesus. The Virgin receives us with a smile, and invites us to go to the small garden in front of the house. She accommodates us all there while She calls Jesus and Joseph Who are in the workshop. We spend the rest of the afternoon there in the atmosphere of good humour and joy, with which Jesus, Joseph and Mary welcome those who arrive so that they feel truly at home.

Jesus is only a Child but he knows that his house on earth is an image of Heaven. When, before dying, he says goodbye to his disciples, he will console them saying, “Don’t be sad, I go to my Father's house where there are dwellings for everyone and a beautiful garden. When I prepare the place for you, I will come back to take you with Me and so, that where I Am, you also will be.”
